About Me

Hello! Friendly Penguin Tutoring was set up at the beginning of 2023 by myself, Rebecca Price
(Becky), after a moment of inspiration. I have years of experience working as a Primary School teacher across different year groups with a range of different abilities. Over my time as a teacher, I delivered interventions for a variety of purposes such as SATs preparation, Pupil Premium boosters and confidence building sessions. I have experience working which children with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) including (but not limited to) dyslexia, dyscalculia, ADD, ADHD and ASD. As part of the 2019 Key Stage Two SATs assessment period, I was a marker for the Mathematics papers, which was such valuable experience to understand the tests further.

Now that I no longer work as a full time teacher, I have the time and dedication to share with students who would like extra support with their learning. I am all too aware of the time pressure that teachers face (through no fault of their own) and how this can sometimes mean that there isn't enough time in the day to go over every misconception with each child. I offer individualised learning for each student and work with them to gain their confidence and boost their understanding. Take a look at the Services page to see which area your child would benefit from extra support.

Before I was a teacher, I completed my BMus (Hons) Music undergraduate degree. Music has always been a key part of my life and playing the flute has brought me so much joy. I completed the ABRSM grades 1 - 8 as a teenager which allowed me to gain entry to the University of Huddersfield. In my final year, I became Principal Flautist for the Symphonic Wind Band, which for me was a merit of all of my hard work.
